History of Acampeucarístico

20240713_110523.jpg

The Eucharistic Camp was born from the inspiration of Eurocamp. Eurocamps are meetings that offer young people the opportunity to discover in the Eucharist a sacrament for their own lives, a challenge offered to shape their future. It seeks to help them live with joy and authenticity in today’s world. Eurocamp began in 1985 as a “dream” of some religious of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament (Sacramentines, SSS) who wanted to propose a meeting of friendship and fraternity for young Europeans, eager to reflect, pray and research on the great themes of faith, but also on solidarity, collaboration and integration between different cultures, inspired by its founder Saint Peter Julian Eymard who created the Sacramentine-Eymardian Family to live and communicate the Eucharist in the “four corners of the world”.

In the context of the novitiate in 2000, the Novice Master and a novice in Brazil began to discuss a Eurocamp with a Latin American face, and so the Eucharistic Camp was born. Initially held in Chile and later in Uberaba – MG.

The last experiences, before happening in Ceará, took place in Belo Horizonte-MG, with a new look given by Father Francisco Junior, SSS in the years 2004 and 2005. Eurocamp, which had become a Eucharistic Camp, is now an Acampeucarístico.

After a few years without Acampeucaristico, Fr. Francisco Junior, SSS, now rector and pastor of the Archdiocesan Sanctuary of Adoration - Parish of São Benedito, and some passionate young people, resumed the great joy of offering it in the Archdiocese of Fortaleza, Ceará, the first in the year 2023. In this year of 2025, we reached the 3rd edition of the event in the state of Ceará, in the context of the Jubilee of Hope lived throughout the world, so the theme to be lived in this edition is PILGRIMS OF HOPE - following the same ideal of transforming the world through the Eucharist from the heart of the Young.
